Recipes - Tasty Granola Recipe
This is for a smaller serving size (1 large tupperware container). If you want the full recipe, times everything by three.
Melt together in a saucepan: (Its o.k if it boils)
.5 cup packed brown sugar
.5 cup water
.5 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup honey or molasses
.5 tsp salt,.5 tsp cinnamon, .5 tsp vanilla
Add and mix well:
1/3 cup wheat germ
1/3 cup shredded coconut
1 cup sunflower seeds
.5 cup sesame seeds
1 cup chopped almonds
.5 cup chopped cashews
.5 cup pumpkin seeds (my favorite)
About 5 cups of rolled oats (can you say "eat like a horse?")
I also like to use flax seeds and chopped pecans...
Seperate the mixture onto two cookie sheets and press down. Bake a 300F for 15 minutes. DO NOT STIR. Change the position of the trays in the oven and bake another 15 minutes at 275F. DO NOT STIR!
Turn the oven off. Leave trays in the oven until it is pretty cool. Your granola will be nice and crisp. Take out of oven and store in airtight containers once it has entirely cooled.
Dont forget that the granola is in there and then turn on the oven to cook something else!
